About Ducklington Sports Club
Ducklington Sports Club is a thriving charitable sports club serving the local community near Witney in Oxfordshire. The club supports more than 200 children across its youth football setup, alongside two men’s teams, and provides a welcoming hub for players, families and supporters. In addition to football, the clubhouse hosts social activities including Aunt Sally, helping make the club a real focal point for the community.
The Challenge
Ducklington Sports Club needed a more reliable and practical network setup to support the day to day running of the club and the growing demands of matchdays and events. The existing broadband connection entered the building in an inconvenient location, with the incoming master socket and Sky broadband hardware positioned in an area that was not ideal for the club’s wider operational needs. Wi-Fi coverage inside the building was limited, and signal strength outside the clubhouse was not sufficient for the way the club now needed to work.
This had become particularly important during busy events, where the club wanted to be able to take card payments in multiple external areas such as the barbecue, payment entry points and outdoor bar facilities. The existing setup did not provide the wide-reaching, dependable wireless coverage needed to support this properly. As a result, connectivity risked becoming a barrier to smooth customer service and efficient event management.
In addition to improving coverage, the club also needed the broadband service to be relocated into a more suitable area of the building, allowing for a tidier and more professional network installation. The aim was not simply to boost signal strength, but to create a more robust and future-ready network that would improve internal connectivity, extend coverage to external areas and support more reliable operations across the site.

The Solution

Get Support designed and delivered a new network installation that would improve both performance and coverage across the clubhouse and surrounding external areas. The first step was to identify a more suitable location within the building for the incoming broadband service and core network equipment. New cabling was installed to create a new master socket position, and a communications cabinet was fitted in this new location to provide a secure and practical home for the network hardware.
From this new cabinet location, structured cabling was run to both internal and external access point locations, allowing the new wireless solution to be properly distributed across the site. The previous Sky-based setup was replaced with business-grade Ubiquiti UniFi equipment, creating a much more capable and scalable network. This included a new UniFi Cloud Gateway, a UniFi PoE switch, one internal Wi-Fi 7 access point and two external Wi-Fi 7 access points to provide strong and consistent coverage in the areas where the club needed it most.
The full system was configured with separate networks for different uses, including operational devices, guest access and any additional services required by the club. The end result was a far more reliable and better-performing network, designed around the way the football club actually uses its building and outside spaces.
The Result
The completed project delivered a major improvement in both network performance and usability. Ducklington Sports Club now benefits from faster, more reliable connectivity throughout a larger proportion of the building, with greatly improved Wi-Fi coverage in key outdoor areas as well.
This means the club is now much better equipped to take card payments externally during events, improving efficiency and the experience for members, guests and visitors. The relocation of the broadband entry point and network hardware has also created a tidier and more resilient installation, with equipment now housed in a more suitable location.
Overall, the project has given the club a modern, business-grade wireless network that is far better aligned to its operational needs, both now and for the future.
“Get Support did a fantastic job for us. We needed reliable Wi-Fi both inside and outside the clubhouse, especially to support card payments during busy events, and the difference has been huge. The whole setup is now far more professional, reliable and fit for purpose.”
